has everything a person needs to enjoy life! It is 150 miles from Reno,
Nevada, and 120 miles from Elko, Nevada. It is the county
seat of Humboldt County, and a very self-sufficient, modern town.
Winnemucca has restaurants,
casinos, three family friendly parks, two swimming pools, the Humboldt County Library,
and Humboldt General Hospital--a fully staffed medical center.
Winnemucca also has four major grocery
stores complete with pharmacies: Super Wal-mart, Raley’s, Khoury's, and Uptown.
The school district is highly rated, with three elementary schools
(Winnemucca Grammar, Sonoma Height Elementary, Grass Valley Elementary), Winnemucca Junior High, Lowery High School, and the Great Basin Community
College.
